Flannery M.
Private tutor in Dallas, TX
Education
I graduated from the Honors College at the University of North Texas in May of 2010 with a B.A. in Anthropology and a minor in French. I proceeded to study Women's Studies, History, and Psychology at Texas Women's University and graduated with my M.A. in 2012.
Experience
I have been a certified teacher (generalist 4th-8th grade) in Dallas starting in 2012 through present. I have taught Reading to 7th graders and Reading, Writing, and Social Studies to 4th graders during this time. Meanwhile, I have also privately tutored several clients from ages 5-14. My entire teaching career has been overseen by Teach for America, which is a nationally-recognized, selective organization that provides intensive professional development to teachers at all levels in the education system. I have solid references from principals, professional development managers, and satisfied private clients.

Hobbies
My primary hobby is reading, which makes me an ideal candidate for a reading tutor! I enjoy reading science fiction, realistic fiction, youth fiction, and non-fiction memoirs. My other hobby is teaching, which has truly dominated my career life. I applied to Teach for America because I believe that education is the primary tool to achieving social justice in the United States; my belief in the power of education has spurred me through the bureaucracy and complications of inner-city school districts. I have dedicated large portions of my free time to studying pedagogy and modern teaching practices in the hopes of truly becoming a great teacher for our youth.
