Experience
I received my BA from Baylor university and my MA in Communication Disorders from UH. I first became a tutor as a high school student where I had the opportunity to tutor local elementary school students. Most of those children had learning delays or disabilities such as dyslexia, autism, and ADHD. I continued tutoring elementary school students throughout my collegiate career. I am currently an elementary school speech language pathologist in Texas. The majority of my tutoring experience has been in grades K-3 in all subjects. My focus is on helping children develop their language skills. Some of the specific courses I tutor include elementary math, reading, phonics, grammar and mechanics, study skills and organization, public speaking, and English. I endeavor to create learning environments that are both functional and fun. I take the time to discover how each student learns and then create a lesson plan that is designed to facilitate learning for their learning style. I also try to incorporate any specific student hobbies or interests if it can be made applicable to their lessons. I recognize how diverse student learning styles are and make each tutoring session unique. When I'm not helping children achieve academic success I enjoy cooking, reading, exercising, and volunteer work.
