Education

University of North Texas System - Current Undergrad, Interdisciplinary Studies EC-6th Generalist/ESL Certification

Experience

I currently attend the University of North Texas, where I major in Interdisciplinary Studies. I am also getting a certification in ESL and will be teaching elementary school once my education is complete next year. I have worked with varying ages in different subject areas. Recently, I held a position with the City of Mesquite, where I tutored children in an after school program. I also volunteered in Dallas as a tutor. Additionally, at UNT, I have a role where I create lesson plans and instruct them to my peers.I am knowledgeable in elementary school mathematics, but I am most proficient in instructing English language and reading skills. There is no real, set way to teach, because every person learns in a different way. When I tutor, I implement various approaches based on the student I am working with. I am a patient individual, which is so important. I strive for value in each of my sessions and want each person I encounter to feel that they really retained the material that was covered. When I am not busy with my studies, I like to read, play video games, and go to new movies at the theater.
