Heidi A.
Private tutor in Dallas, TX
Education
PhD in Mathematics (2017), University of Minnesota (UMN).
Experience
I currently teach all levels of the undergraduate mathematics curriculum at a university in the DFW area. In the summer of 2018, I volunteered for seven weeks as a math GED instructor at the Dallas central library downtown. From 2011-2017, I was employed as a graduate teaching assistant (and occasional full lecturer/instructor of record) in the UMN math department, where I taught precalculus, calculus 1-3, and linear algebra/differential equations. I held a calculus 1-3 tutoring position during the summers of 2016 and 2017. I also served as a tutor at my undergraduate institution from 2010-2011, in which I tutored students from the calculus courses as well as linear algebra and the introduction to proofs course. Teaching is my lifelong vocation. I have been training in this field since my teens, in which I regularly volunteered as a tour guide alongside my family members at various cultural institutions (history museum, living history farm, Chinese garden) in the Portland, OR, area.

Hobbies
When I’m not working on math or teaching, I like to enjoy plants and nature, visit cafes and read about obscure topics in arts and history, and listen to podcasts in the evening while prepping and eating dinner. I also like to do a bit of amateur (and occasionally financially compensated) singing and voice acting: one project I am involved in is an educational game for which I have done some writing and voice work, and another project is a new YouTube series about a rogue, dimension-hopping female scientist.
