Experience

I have worked in a range of professional capacities from research specialist to elementary school teacher. As a graduate student at the University of Chicago, I have also worked as an assistant in the University's publishing arm, the largest extant University press in the nation, publishing academic books on of scholarly subjects. While I have tutored students ranging in age from 5 to 18 in a range of subjects, my own academic interests focus on Post-Shoah Jewish Ethics and the maturation of the French phenomenological tradition. I also have interests in both imperial and Soviet Russian literature and its expression of uniquely Russian religious concepts and mysticism. I hope to share my passion for learning with the students I tutor. I was able to succeed in school due to the tireless dedication of my teachers and the genuine excitement they brought to the classroom and thus hope to share that same experience with children and teens who may need an extra hand or who are looking to get ahead. Having struggled to ask for help as a kid, I understand more acutely than ever as a graduate student the absolute necessity of using all the tools at one's disposal, including tutors, peers and professors, in order to reach one's full potential. I look to meet my students where they are and to approach them as individuals with their own unique set of skills and challenges. In the first session I will get to know the student and complete an assessment based on the information I collect in the pre-screening process. From there, I will set out a plan and timeline in order to reach our mutual goals. Compassion and respect are the cornerstones of my teaching philosophy!

Hobbies

In addition to my academic interests, I am an avid reader and am (finally) tackling Tolstoy's War and Peace. I also love to cook and bake. Though I have lived in Chicago for nearly a decade, I am back in Dallas while my University has moved to an online format for the 2020-2021 year. When I'm not baking, working or reading, you'll find me sifting through antique stores or watching a classic movie with my roommates, likely with my cat George at my feet.
