Howdy y'all! I am a recent transplant to Dallas from Wisconsin and am a Pediatrician at a major local Children's Hospital. I am currently completing my Pediatric residency and hope to have an outpatient and Sports Medicine practice when I am done. I did a lot of ACT tutoring in Medical School and am now looking to find a student or two in the Dallas or Dallas-Metro area. I absolutely love one-on-one teaching and am looking for a student wanting to have some fun, laugh, and learn a whole lot about the ACT! About me: I am originally from Eau Claire, Wisconsin where I graduated valedictorian. I then attended the University of Wisconsin, where I received my bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering (ask about my Braille watch patent!) and Medical Degree (MD) from the School of Medicine and Public Health. My teaching experience includes tutoring for the UW Academic Advancement Program (various subjects), being a teaching assistant for the UW Physiology 335 course, coaching high school forensics (speech), serving as a certified test prep tutor for one of those fancy dancy test prep companies (which I won't name here), and serving as a private tutor for a number of subjects. In my free time, I enjoy running marathons and even the occasional Ironman, including a couple years ago when I made the 140.6 mile journey with my buddy Halden who has cerebral palsy. My philosophy: I am laid back, but, as I said, I also have an immense passion for whatever I am teaching. I love working with students who are dedicated to improving their knowledge in whatever the subject may be, and while we will work hard, we will have fun. I like to bring my sense of humor into whatever I'm teaching in hopes that we can make even the driest material enjoyable. I cater my tutoring style to the specific needs of the student and am willing to adapt in whatever way the students learning style demands. I have numerous experiences with students of all types (pre-test ACT scores of 18-31!) and have various tutoring approaches I like to use. Whatever your needs, I know we will make something work. I am currently looking for very motivated ACT students who are seriously looking to maximize their ACT potential. I have averaged an increase of 4 composite points with students I have tutored in the past, but the key was that these students were motivated. If you are looking to rock your ACT to get into the college of your choice, I am your guy. With my hundreds of hours of private tutoring experience, this is my favorite thing to teach students, and I find it can also be one of the most rewarding for the student. There is no better feeling than finally hitting that score that all those "smart people" get! Feel free to contact me with questions. My rate is $90/hr. However, I would love to meet you and expect no compensation until I know you are satisfied with the relationship. What is most important to me is that you can find a tutor you are happy with. I hope to hear from you soon! Thank you. -Nick
