Experience

-I have several years of experience working in after school/daycare programs where daily tutoring was a major job requirement. -SAT scores:Critical Reading-590, Math-620, Writing-610 -Einstein once said, "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough." I feel like this philosophy is true for many teachers today. I know, personally, that the teachers I had in school impacted how I viewed the subject material, more than the material itself. I love learning, I love feeling mental growth, and feeling like my understanding of the world is growing. Most kids today do not get to experience that love of learning, because of failings in our school system. I want to pass on that love of learning. Our educational system today is based on memorization and regurgitation, without any real intellectual growth. I have had a variety of jobs, but the most rewarding was always helping kids learn some thing they did not believe they could master. I also had mild-dyslexia, as well as ADHD, so it took me a long time to discover my abilities to learn. I want to save other kids from doing things the hard way. Our education system seems to give up on kids with leaning disabilities, and the kids, in turn, give up on themselves. Any one can learn any thing. I love seeing the lights click on when some one finally "gets it," and I can appreciate the confidence that follows, because I was in that same position growing up. -I changed my major half a dozen times while in College, so I have taken a broad range of classes. Most of my studies were in the social sciences, and liberal arts. My best subjects were history, political sciences, humanities, philosophy, English, writing, literature, and psychology. However, I also did well in most sciences. For the sake of transparency I must admit that I have always been useless with biology, and any math above algebra 2.
