Experience

As a student at Rice University, I am currently working to earn my degree in English and History. During the summertime, I always anticipate my time working as a tutor for students. Some subjects I have experience teaching are: Creative Writing, English, Cooking, and Nature/Biology, but the subjects I enjoy teaching most are definitely History and English Literature. I specifically enjoy the process of helping students approach a subject from a new direction. Whether a classical novel or historical event, looking at something from a different point of view can spark a new excitement for the subject, significantly enhance comprehension, and increase test scores. Through my help, students can turn their weakest subject into their strongest subject. My methodology involves creating a balance between memorization, such as vocabulary, and teaching methods that show a deeper knowledge of the material, such as analytical skills. When I'm not tutoring or teaching, I enjoy cooking, reading, creative writing, fishing, hiking, and playing Frisbee.
