Experiences I believe I am qualified to teach ESOL credit courses at because my qualifications are: Ph D in Applied Linguistics, Institute of Education, University of London, UK; M.A in TEFL, school of Graduate Studies, University of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and B.A in English with Minor in History, University of Asmara, Eritrea. Moreover, my long teaching experiences at graduate and undergraduate levels, at secondary school and in Intensive English programs for adults beginning, intermediate and advanced levels and preparing undergraduate and graduate English curricula and syllabi qualify me to fulfill the job requirement of your Institute. In addition to this, the English Language courses I have studies at different institutions equip me with the theoretical and practical knowledge of teaching English effectively to Speakers of other languages. Teaching Second Language acquisition, TESL 611- Curriculum Design and Materials Production, Engl 615, Language Testing and Evaluation Engl 505, Phonetics and Phonology, Introduction to Linguistics, Reading and Writing I & II, Functional Grammar, TESL, Advanced Composition, and Translation help me to meet the requirements of ESOL at your College. My research articles on language learning strategies give me additional advantage. Similarly, my books on academic writing: New Perspectives and English Grammar show my competence in English to the position. I was also a visiting research scholar at the University of Florida at Gainesville, Florida. USA from Sept. 9 to Dec. 23, 2002. I attended and audited Methods of Teaching English as a Second Language and Language Principles for ESOL Teachers for three months to familiarize with the teaching experiences in USA colleges/universities.
