Education

BA in Anthropology, with a focus on Archaeology and History with a focus on military history, at the University of Colorado at Boulder, GPA 3.45, 2006-2009

Experience

I tutored history for high school students when I was at the University of Colorado at Boulder. I also helped younger kids develop a successful way of studying to do well on tests and quizzes. I tutored fellow students at the University of Colorado at Boulder for three years in both Anthropology and History. I have taken the GRE three separate times and have already been applying for several Masters and PhD programs. I have always enjoyed education and loved learning new subjects and information. I believe that my enthusiasm shines through when I help others, which helps them become motivated and excited about the topic they are studying. I work well with students of all ages and have a very kind and caring demeanor. I enjoy developing study plans and kits for each individual student, because I believe everyone studies in different ways. So i will find what works and implement that into our study program.

Hobbies

As I said in my experience above, I believe it is my passion for learning that allows me to be such a great mentor and tutor. I am constantly reading non-fiction books about history and archaeology, while contributing to archaeology journals. In fact I cannot remember that last time I read a fiction book. I just love learning and if I could live just learning new things everyday that would be my job. I always keep up with the news and current events and then compare them to past histories of that area. I am a calm, quieter person who really prefers a day in rather than a night out and to use that time to better understand my world through research. I actual aspire to become a college professor in the near future and have always enjoyed learning and passing that information on to others. I learned early on, I studied very differently from many of my peers and understand that students are not all the same, which mean different routes must often be taken to obtain the best results. I believe I am very good at identifying these routes and then building a successful plan for the student to succeed, no matter what area of study he or she is pursuing. I am also immensely patient and kind. I will spend however long is needed for the student to understand the material and to be able go home with a personal strategy to continue to study successfully. My mother was a teacher and I believe it was because of her, I have the trait to teach subjects that are harder for some students to succeed in, in a better and more understandable fashion. I highly look forward to helping you conquer many of the subjects that have been difficult for you to overcome.
